The Man With No "Fear" (!)
On the weekend I had a Daredevil t-shirt on me, in the front it was written 'the man with no fear' In no time it reminded me of Dune and The Bene Gesserit Littainy against Fear:
Dune is a classic science fiction book written by Frank Herbert. It has been made into a film, but unlike most such film adaptations the film is a serious artistic work in it's own right and it's worth seeing the film or read the book. The book is an epic (or the start of an epic if you count the series of books which it began) but still has some very interesting and novel concepts.
One very famous line from the book which is widely quoted is "It is by will alone that I set my mind in motion".
The Bene Gesserit Littainy against Fear:
I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
Only I will remain.
... here you can find much more Bene Gesserit sayings...
