Return Of The King
At the weekend I watched four movies:
- Once Upon A Time In Mexico
- Lord Of The Rings - Fellowship of The Ring
- Lord Of The Rings - Two Towers
- La Finestra di Fronte
I should tell you that the first three were watched on the saturday and as the The Rings were extended versions I saw horses, ring bearers, kings, middle earth creatures (varios types: orks, goblins, trols) in my dream.
Anyway, it was a warm up for the great final, and on monday morning I watched The Return of The King. (It was a private press screening ;) 201 minutes and you don't even breathe till the end... So... Highly recommended!
As I watched the film I told myself (several times) that our generation is witnessing a great period on film history. Both Matrix and Lotr trilogies are milestones in history. Today in filmmaking lessons they teach classics and after sometime these films will be on school books as well...
And well... I think we will always be waiting for something new... Peter Jackson's now working on Hobbits...
Despite his exhaustion, Jackson is not resting on his laurels and said if complex rights issues can be resolved he would like to direct "The Hobbit," J.R.R. Tolkien's prequel to the "Rings" trilogy set some 50 years earlier.
"I'd be interested in doing it because I think it would give continuity to the overall chapter," he said.
While many of the lead "Rings" characters do not appear in "The Hobbit" story, the wizard Gandalf, played by Ian McKellen, and Gollum, the cave dweller corrupted by the powerful ring, do and should make a comeback. Arwen, the elf princess played by Liv Tyler, could also feature again, Jackson said.
And as a little note; yes
Liv Tyler is an amazing human being... ;)
