When you search about delphi most of the results you get are about the programming language. But in fact Delphi is an ancient greek city.

Delphi, renowned for its oracle of Apollo, was a city in the ancient Greek city-state of Phocis. Delphi was located on the southern slope of Mt. Parnassus.

Delphi is an Ancient City in the prefecture of Fokida, on the south side of mount Parnassos. The Ancient Greeks considered it to be the centre of the world. (pretty cool :) Today there are about 1,500 permanent residents in Delphi.

What To Do In A Fire

Stay Low
If you can see smoke in the house, as you make your way to the exit, stay low to the ground. In a fire, smoke and poisonous air hurt more people than the actual flames do. You'll breathe less smoke if you stay close to the ground. Smoke naturally rises, so if there is smoke while you're using your escape route, staying low means you can crawl under most of it. You can drop to the floor and crawl on your hands and knees below the smoke.

Faster Connection: Adsl and Linksys WAG54G

I was using dial-up connections till thursday night now I have an ADSL line with a brand new Wireless-G modem/router/access point: Linksys WAG54G. I took me around an hour to set my new line (instead of 2 minutes) because my provider gave me wrong user name but at last I manages setting it up and now I have a faster connection at home. For the moment I use my modem with a wire to my home desktop pc but next weekI will try using with my notebook as well and then I will have a wireless network at home. (Cool;)

In soem forums I saw topics about WAG54G, half of the people using it was really happy as the second half was really upset. To take a part, as far as my 2 day experience with it, I am happy... Later on I might tell you more... (I think I bought it for a reasonable price from HepsiBurada.com with a bundled wireless network card for my notebook)

MSN Messenger 7.0 (Beta)

I hesitated to download the beta a few weeks aho as there were some major bugs but I installed it a couple of days ago and at the moment I am happy with it. It has some great new features. (But i wished you could write your own status messages like iChat) (I didn't test it yet but I also wish, the number of maximum users you add to your msn messenger is increased - i can not add any more friends)

Anyway, it is more fun to use this version.

He has illustrations and some artwork in his site. I really liked Skeletal Systems, not only they are realistic and funny but they also reminded me some of my favourite cartton characters that i forgot. Enjoy!

"G.O.R.A."yı izlememiş ya da izleyip de zevk almamışsanız, sanatseverliğiniz, zekanız, entelektüelliğiniz kuşkulu hale gelebilir.

Bu yazıyı yazarken tereddütler yaşadığımı itiraf etmeliyim. Çünkü mayınlı bir tarlaya adım atmış bulunuyorum. Konu "güldürü kültürü", zekâ ve komedi sanatçısı Cem Yılmaz olunca, bu tereddütümde ne kadar halkı olduğum, özellikle son dönemin sanat tartışması gözönünde bulundurularak daha iyi anlaşılabilir. Belki bu sayfalar için biraz aykırı bir yaklaşım olacak (çünkü bu ekte daha çok övgü yazıları yayımlandı); ama sonuçta bir rahatsızlığı dile getirmenin bir hak olduğunu düşünüyorum.
Espri üretmek ve yapmakla ilgili sık sık tekrarlanan bir sav vardır: Espri yapmak, her ciddi, gayriciddi veya ciddiye alınan durumlardan espri malzemesi çıkarabilmek zekâ işidir; espri yeteneğine sahip insanlar zeki kişilerdir, denir. "Espri üreten", "espri tüketen"e hitap ettiğine göre, o espriyi anlayan ve ona gülen de (espri üreten kadar olmasa da) zeki olmalıdır ve biz böyle bir "güldürü kültürü"yle çevrelenmiş durumdayız.

Cem Yılmaz olabilmek

On yıl kadar oluyor ki Türkiye'nin bir espri/komedi/güldürü fenomeni var: Cem Yılmaz. (O kadar ki, birçok kişi, Cem Yılmaz olabilmek ve Cemyılmazvari espri yapabilmek için son zamanlarda birbiriyle yarış halinde.) Abartmak gibi olmasın, son yıllarda Türkiye bu sanatçıy(l)a gülüyor. Gazetelerde, dergilerde, televizyonların haber programlarında, radyolarda, reklamlarda o ve son olarak senaryosunu da kendisinin yazdığı ve başrolünde oynadığı "G.O.R.A."da o! Cem Yılmaz herhangi bir yerde görünmeyegörsün, makineye basılmışçasına birçok kişinin yüzünde "gayri ihtiyari" bir tebessüm... Sanatçı ağzını bir şey söylemek için açar açmaz karşısındakilerde kahkaha atmaya hazır bir bekleyiş. Bu "arazlı" durum herhalde herkesten çok Cem Yılmaz'ı rahatsız ediyor olmalı; ama tabi ki doğrusunu sanatçının kendisi bilir!
Gazetelerde, dergilerde sanatçıya yönelik yazılan "eleştiri" yazılarında, sanatçının Türkiye'nin hiç değilse kendi kulvarında gelmiş geçmiş en zeki insanı olduğu yazılıyor, esprilerinin çok zekice olduğu söyleniyor; doğrudur. O esprilerden anlayan kişilerin de zeki oldukları doğrudan dillendirilmiyorsa da ima yollu söyleniyor; bu da doğrudur. Ama ya birileri Cem Yılmaz esprilerine gül(e)müyorsa! Böyle bir olasılık sanırım birçok kişiye tuhaf geliyordur.
Peki ne yapıyor da Cem Yılmaz, zekâsını bu kadar parlak bir biçimde kullanıyor ve birçok kişinin kendi zekâsından kuşku duymasına neden oluyor? Sahneye çıkıyor, birçoğumuzun yaşadığı, bildiği, gördüğü hatta apaçık farkında olduğu abeslikleri anlatıyor; gülüyoruz. Aslında, Cem Yılmaz'a "gülmekten ölen" ve "gülemeyen" ve "gülmekten ölemeyen" birçok kişinin, aynı konuları konuştuğunu biliyoruz. Ama bu sıradan şeyler Cem Yılmaz'ın ağzından çıkınca bambaşka bir anlama bürün(dürül)üyor. Sanatçı bir şalvar giyiyor, ince bir bıyık bırakıyor, bacaklarına "'70 model" dar bir pantolon takıyor, bölgesel/yerel ağızla konuşuyor, ders kitaplarındaki tuhaflıkları anlatıyor gülüyoruz; çeşitli firmaların istediği/ısmarladığı formatta reklamlarda "halkımız"ı oynuyor, tüketici/izleyiciler iki büklüm, kahkahadan "yıkılıyo"! Yolda, okulda, evde, mecliste rahatlıkla savrulan küfürler, Cem Yılmaz tarafından milyonların yüzüne söylenince bir başka komik ve zekâvi oluyor! Sanatçı lüks içinde yaşadığını "bal tutan parmağını yalar" kabilinden ifade ediyor apaçık bir lisanla; "halkımız" bunda bile ince bir zekâ oyunu/esprisi bulup gülüyor!
Artık klasikleşmiş bir "topluma ayna tutmak" metaforu vardır hani. Cem Yılmaz da bir bakıma topluma ayna tutuyor. Aynayı izleyenler gülüyor. İzleyicilerin aynayı tutana mı, aynadaki kendisine mi güldüğü ise her zaman tam olarak anlaşılmıyor. Ama aynayı tutanın önemli olduğu açık biçimde ortada. Bununla beraber esas olarak güldürü unsurunun bizzat Cem Yılmaz olduğunu söylemek gerekir.
Cem Yılmaz, naçizane bana göre de oldukça zeki ve yaratıcı bir sanatçıdır. Bunun birçok göstergesi de mevcut. Bilindiği gibi "trend" vitrindir, pazarlamadır ve günümüz insanının zekâsı kendini en iyi pazarlamada ve pazarlama yöntemlerini yetkin bir şekilde kullanmasında gösterir. Hakkını yememek gerek, Cem Yılmaz, sanatçı yeteneğinin yanında, hem çok basit şeyleri bir nevi kolajlayarak insanların gözüne sokup onları güldürebildiği, hem de bu kurtlar pazarında kendine farklı bir alanda iyi bir pazar edindiği için de zekilik rüştünü kanıtlamış durumdadır.
Bununla beraber, asıl sorun/tartışmanın sahnede temsil edilen ama sahnenin dışında seyirci kalanlar arasında zuhur ettiğini belirtmek gerekir. Nitekim Cem Yılmaz olgusuna ilişkin olarak bir dikotomi oluşmuş durumda: Cemyılmazcılar ve Cemyılmazcıolmayanlar. Cemyılmazseverler ve Cemyılmazsevdiriciler tarafından Cem Yılmaz'ı takip etmemek, neredeyse bir "özr-ü zekâ" olarak telakki ediliyor. Bu sanatçıya ve esprilerine itibar etmeyenlerin kendi zekâlarından kuşku duymaları gerektiği telkin ediliyor adeta.

Cemyılmazcı olmayanlar...

"G.O.R.A." filmiyle bu bombardıman bir kez daha gündemde. Dikkat edin, bu filmi izlememiş ve izleyip de zevk almamışsanız, sanatseverliğiniz kuşkulu hale gelebilir. Hatta Cem Yılmaz'ın bu konuda (da) "hayran"larından daha soğukkanlı davranıyor olması sizi kurtaramayabilir. Öte yandan Cemyılmazcıolmayanlar, çekingen bir tavırla çeşitli "masum" gerekçeler bulmaya çalışarak salvoları geçiştirmenin yollarını arasalar da pek başarılı oldukları söylenemez. Siz muhtemelen Sadri Alışık'ı, 1970'lerin o ünlü Uzay Yolu dizisini tiye alan filmde; Cüneyt Arkın'ı aynı dönemin "ciddi-komedi"si "Dünyayı Kurtaran Adam" filmindeki kurtarıcı rolünde izlemişsinizdir. Ama bunun gibi rolleri Cem Yılmaz'ın zekasından izlemediyseniz, espri anlayışınız ve zekanız sorunlu demektir! Hele bir de şu son haftalarda bu espri/komedi türüne ilişkin olumsuz eleştiri hakkınızı kullanıyorsanız, sanattan/espriden anlamadığınız yönünde "eleştiri"lere de hazır olmalısınız! Ama yine de bir öneri olarak dile getirelim: Bir arkadaş meclisinde entelektüel birikiminizi kanıtlamak, zekanızı tescil ettirmek ve söyleyecek bir sözünüzün olduğunu göstermek istiyorsanız "G.O.R.A."ya da gitmeli, Cem Yılmaz'ın "talk show"larını da izlemeli, reklamlardaki tavırlarına da "katıla katıla" gülmelisiniz!
