Richard Bona

Mike Stern Band was in Istanbul last week for two nights in Babylon. I went to the seconf night with my camera and telefocus. The venue was packed (it was one of tje most crowded nights of Babylon) and it was a great concert with four masters on stage. In fact I went there to watch Dennis Chambers who is one of the best drummers of all times. (Soon I will post more about him in here) But I really enjoyed watching and listening Richard Bona as well...

I took lots of photos and most of them are out of focus as it was dark, I was too far to the stage and as it was very crowded even I couldn't stand still... Anyway, I have 4 or 5 photos that I liked, here you see one of them... Enjoy ;)

A Tiny Tunnel in Budapest

A Night In Prague

It was sooo cold as I took this photo... I like night shots... (I started to like) I started working with a tripod and trying to improc my night shots... I started taking "tripodded" night photos in my Budapest - Wien vacation... (And after a while I decided I should have started this thing in a summer night instead of autumn/winter)

Anyway this is the exact spot where some guys were shooting a film the day before... I think that it was "Bourne Identity 2" but I won't be sure till I see the movie... :) Enjoy the photo, I will be posting more very soon... (And yes, there is someone walking in the photo :)

I took this photo with my Nikon Coolpix 775 in Budapest a few days ago, this statue is one of the two guarding the statue of liberty on a hill in Budapest...It symbolizes the young generation. (Did I mention that I like silhouettes? :)

I took this photo in Adapazari in August 1999 after the big Marmara Earthquake in Turkey; offiacially 34.000 (in fact more than 50.000) people lost their lives just because sometimes human life doesn't worth too much... :( [When you take photographs you freeze frames of life whether sad or happy... Anyway...]

I took this photo in Bartin. Bartin is a little town in Black Sea Region, people living in Bartin use this place as a summer resort. When we were there it was really deserted but as far as we heard the place gets really crowded in summers...

Windmills of Bozcaada

These are the famous windmills of Bozcaada (An island in Egean cost of Turkey) For the last 2-3 years the island started to be a famous holiday resort but there are not too much hotels or place for lodging. You can hire a village house or stay in a little pension. There are 17 windmills on the island and only two of them is enough for the islands energy needs and others supply the needs of some cement factories on the mainland. Xanthos (Arinna)

The ancient Lycian capital of Xanthos, discovered in 1838 by the archaeologist Charles Fellows. City was a free, independent town till 545 BC., when it was besieged by the Persian army led by Harpagus. Today city near one of the Turkish village called Kinik, lies 18 km north of Patara. You can see the Theater, Tomb of the Harpies, Nereid Monument, Agora, and Inscribed Pillar, among a mixture of ruins from lycian, Roman and Byzantine times, create the special atmosphere of this site whose original reliefs are kept in the British Museum in London . The holy Lycian center of Letoon, 5 km farther to the Xsantos, there are three temples dedicated to Leto, Apollo and Artemis, familiar goods of mythology, which goes back to 4th century B.C., is built between the other two in Ionic and Doric style. This photo was shot with my oooold old (good old) Yashica on a really hot summer day in Istanbul. These are the gypsies selling flowers in the city center. While they were on a break they decided to drink some cold refreshments and reached to the guy who is selling lemonade and ayran. (Ayran is a traditional Turkish drink made of yoghurt & water.) This is the first photo I am publishing in this category. I took this one 4-5 years ago. The boy's name is Serkan; he used to live somewhere around the faculty I studied in Istanbul. When he wasn't at elementary school he used the play around the university. I took the photo with tele in one of the spring fests... This photo is one of my favourites...
